Exchange Between Trung Vuong University and Jeju Universities, South Korea

On December 8, 2016, Trung Vuong University in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Training Technology Application (CATTA) – Hanoi National University of Education, organized an event titled “Exchange with Jeju Universities, South Korea.” The aim was to foster cultural exchange and provide insights into studying in this enchanting country.

Representatives from three prominent universities in Jeju, South Korea were present: Jeju National University, Jeju Tourism University, and Cheju Halla University. The program focused on introducing educational opportunities and scholarships specifically available in Jeju to Vietnamese students.

The seminar’s main topics, discussed by representatives from the three universities and CATTA, included reasons for choosing Korean universities, special benefits for Vietnamese students, opportunities for knowledge and skill development, cultural similarities between Korea and Vietnam, and job prospects during and after studies. The overarching theme emphasized Korea as a promising destination for Vietnamese students aspiring to study abroad.

The exchange attracted numerous students from Trung Vuong University, as well as teachers from Quang Ha High School and Nguyen Duy Thi High School in Vinh Phuc. This provided an invaluable opportunity for schools and students in Vinh Phuc to gain insights into advanced education systems, study environments, scholarships, and career opportunities in Korea.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thinh, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trung Vuong University, delivered the welcome speech. He expressed sincere gratitude to the representatives from the three Jeju universities for their participation and hoped that the seminar would provide accurate and comprehensive information about Korean universities, their programs, and available scholarships. He underscored Trung Vuong University’s commitment to international cooperation and partnerships with leading universities worldwide to enhance training quality, diversify educational methods, and meet the evolving educational needs of society, thereby offering more study opportunities for students.

Subsequently, Mr. Moon Sung Jung from Cheju Halla University presented about Jeju Island and Cheju Halla University. Established in 1969, Cheju Halla University offers programs in tourism, healthcare, IT, and more. Jeju’s breathtaking landscapes attract 130,000 tourists annually, providing abundant part-time job opportunities for students. The university also offers dual-degree programs in collaboration with foreign universities, including those in Vietnam.

Next, Mr. Kang In Kwon from Jeju Tourism University introduced the institution. Established in 1993 with 2,300 students, this private university specializes in tourism and community service training, fostering professional skills and personal development. Programs include Hotel Management, Casino Management, Aviation Services, Tourism Management, and Early Childhood Education. Jeju Tourism University also announced two 100% scholarships for Korean language courses through CATTA.

Lastly, Ms. Park Mi Sun introduced Jeju National University. As the sole national university in Jeju, it comprises 12 colleges and 9 graduate schools. Recognized for its international student management by the Ministry of Education, Jeju National University offers quality education with affordable tuition fees through various scholarship programs.

Ms. Doan Thanh Tu from CATTA elaborated on Cheju Halla University, highlighting its distinction as Korea’s first university offering both college and university-level programs. The university has maintained leading employment rates for 12 consecutive years and collaborates extensively with international institutions, including partnerships with Swiss tourism schools and programs in nursing and IT with universities in the USA, Australia, and China.

The program generated significant interest from students who posed inquiries about admission criteria, scholarships, and employment opportunities. University representatives responded comprehensively, offering valuable insights and information.

The event also featured cultural performances and interactive sessions on Korean customs, enriching the experience for all participants.

To conclude the event, Trung Vuong University representatives led the Jeju university delegates on a campus tour, expressing mutual interest in fostering student exchange programs, particularly in fields such as tourism, hospitality, nursing, and engineering, with hopes for fruitful collaborations in the near future.
