On the afternoon of January 16, 2025, the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year filled the campus of Trung Vuong University through a special cultural experience program for Lao students. This event provided a meaningful opportunity for them to immerse themselves in Vietnamese traditions while strengthening the enduring friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
The highlight of the program was the Banh Chung wrapping activity—an essential Tet tradition. With enthusiastic guidance from faculty and Vietnamese students, the Lao participants joyfully crafted their very first Banh Chung cakes. Every step, from arranging dong leaves to tying bamboo strings, was filled with teamwork and laughter, creating lasting memories for all involved.
Beyond Banh Chung making, the cultural experience featured a variety of engaging activities, including:
- Tending the Banh Chung pots – Students gathered around the simmering pots, savoring the rich aroma, sharing stories, and reminiscing about their homeland’s New Year traditions.
- Campfire bonding – The warm glow of the campfire brought Lao and Vietnamese students closer together, strengthening their friendships.
- Vietnam-Laos cultural exchange – A vibrant program featuring traditional games and lively performances celebrating the heritage of both nations.
The excitement of crafting their first Banh Chung filled the hearts of Lao students with joy and gratitude. For many, this experience was more than just a cultural activity—it was a chance to feel the warmth and support of their lecturers and peers at Trung Vuong University.
This program not only preserved and promoted the beauty of Vietnamese Tet traditions but also left Lao students with unforgettable memories, allowing them to fully embrace the essence of Vietnam’s Lunar New Year celebrations.
