On June 3, 2025, an exhibition of the “Traditional Korean House – Hanok” models was held in the classroom of HQ12401 – Korean Studies major at Trưng Vương University. The models were created by the students as part of their Korean Culture course. The exhibition was organized under the direct guidance of Ms. Kwon Jung Min, a Korean lecturer currently teaching at the university.

A Learning Space Transformed into a Cultural Exhibition
Right upon entering the classroom, attendees could immediately feel the solemn and vibrant atmosphere of Korean culture. Class HQ12401 skillfully arranged the space to showcase models of traditional Korean houses (Hanok) – an iconic symbol in Korean architecture and cultural life. Each model was intricately crafted by student groups, with careful attention to materials, layout, colors, and accompanying cultural elements such as courtyards, tiled roofs, wooden gates, and traditional landscaping.
These models were not only artistic creations but also accompanied by explanatory texts in both Korean and Vietnamese, reflecting the students’ deep understanding of the Hanok’s structure, functions, and the spiritual values it has carried throughout Korean history.

Native Lecturer as a Bridge of Inspiration
Ms. Kwon Jung Min was involved throughout the process, from conceptualization to the final products. She not only provided academic support but also directly guided students in research and creative development. As a Korean native, she offered authentic and vivid insights that helped students engage with the cultural content in a more relatable and accurate manner.
Ms. Kwon shared:
“I’m very proud of the students’ learning spirit and creativity. Even though they are only in their first year, they have demonstrated seriousness, dedication, and a deep love for Korean culture. These kinds of activities are essential for students to go beyond theory and truly ‘live with’ the culture they’re studying.”

Connecting Knowledge with Experience – A New Learning Approach
Through this exhibition, Korean Studies students had the opportunity not only to practice soft skills such as teamwork, creative thinking, presentation, and explanation, but also to experience firsthand an integrated cultural learning method – a significant trend in modern language education.
Student Ánh Dương from HQ12401 shared:
“When we started making the model, we realized that understanding traditional Korean architecture is not easy. We had to read a lot of materials, watch tutorials, and discuss extensively. But that’s exactly what made us love Korean culture even more.”
The exhibition was not only a platform for students to showcase their talents and passion but also a testament to the practical and creative teaching approach of the Korean Studies program at Trưng Vương University.

Towards a Comprehensive and Modern Learning Environment
The Korean Studies Department at Trưng Vương University focuses on integrating theory and practice, as well as language and culture in its curriculum. Organizing experiential learning activities like the Hanok model exhibition is part of the program’s strategy to train well-rounded students who are adaptable, creative, and ready for international integration.
