Recently, the Faculty of Tourism at Trung Vuong University successfully organized a field study program along the route Hanoi – Mong Cai – Tra Co – Dongxing. The trip not only offered rich cultural experiences but also provided students with a valuable opportunity to bridge theory and practice through real-world perspectives.
“Unlocking” knowledge beyond the classroom
Unlike traditional classroom learning, this field trip allowed students to directly participate in the operation of a professional tour. At destinations such as Tra Co Beach and the border city of Dongxing (China), students observed how tour groups are organized, how on-site guiding is conducted, and how immigration procedures are managed.
Sharing her reflections after the trip, Ly A Chu, a third-year student of the Faculty of Tourism, said:
“Previously, I could only imagine immigration procedures or tour operations through textbooks. Standing at the Mong Cai International Border Gate and observing how lecturers and tour guides handled documents for the group helped me truly understand the level of precision and flexibility required in the tourism profession. Many of the knowledge gaps I had before now feel completely ‘unlocked’.”

Strengthening bonds and developing soft skills
Beyond academic objectives, the journey also served as an opportunity for members of the Faculty to strengthen their sense of unity. Group activities, shared moments exploring local cuisine, and exchanges of experiences throughout the trip created strong connections among students across different cohorts.
Mua A Duy, another participant, shared enthusiastically:
“What I remember most is not only the beautiful scenery of Dongxing but also the team spirit. We worked together to solve unexpected situations, supported each other during the journey, and discussed ideas for developing tourism products in border regions. This trip made me realize that communication and teamwork skills are just as important as professional knowledge.”
Through this experience, students further developed essential skills such as:
- Observing and analyzing customer behavior at shopping and sightseeing locations
- Adapting communication styles in international tourism environments and across cultural differences
- Managing time effectively and organizing itineraries in a structured manner
A solid foundation for future careers
The Hanoi – Dongxing field trip concluded with positive impressions and renewed inspiration. Practical lessons from real-world tourism operations and business activities will serve as valuable assets, empowering students to confidently enter the labor market after graduation.

This annual activity of the Faculty of Tourism at Trung Vuong University reflects the institution’s commitment to enhancing training quality by closely linking academic learning with industry practice. It also demonstrates the university’s dedication to preparing students with practical experience to meet the growing demand for high-quality human resources in an increasingly globalized world.
